Hello DLMS Families, 

Here at DLMS, we are themed around the concept of “Lights, Camera, Take Action!” for the 2023-2024 school year. Our students are empowered to take control of their educational journey as well as their social-emotional well being. 

During the 2022-2023 school year, DLMS was 1 out of 3 middle schools in Pennsylvania to be a newly designated  Don Eichhorn Schools to Watch School.  This designation was appointed by the Pennsylvania Association for Middle Level Education (PAMLE), Duquesne University, Edinboro University, Kutztown University, and the Horace Mann Service Corporation. The mission of the Pennsylvania Don Eichhorn Schools: Schools to Watch Program is to assist Pennsylvania middle grades schools build capacity and recognize schools achieving academic excellence, based on the rigorous 37 criteria established by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform.

To aid in this development, the teaching teams at DLMS provide students with a rigorous curriculum that uses differentiated instruction to meet the unique needs of all of the students. Additionally, the Second Step program, which is a 27-lesson social-emotional learning tool that helps students navigate through peer relationships as well as self betterment is used regularly as part of the Personalized Learning period. 

Parents can assist their children through their middle school years by staying in communication with their child’s teachers. As a district, we use Skyward as our student information system where parents can check grades and attendance and Google Classroom for assignments, and as a communication tool, we use Parent Square.
