Strategic Plan

Every six years, the Pennsylvania Department of Education requires a new strategic plan. The current plan is written for 2006 through 2012. A steering committee was formed consisting of Board members, administrators, teachers, parents, students, and community members.

There are five parts to the plan. They are: Special Education, Technology, Professional Development, Induction, and Chapter 4 Educational Plan. The Special Education Plan was developed and written by Mrs. Barbara Tomlinson Director of Special Education and her committee. The Technology Plan was developed and written by Mr. Angelo Furiga Director of Technology and his committee. The Induction Plan was developed and written by Mrs. Patricia Cernicky principal of East Union Intermediate Center and her committee. The Professional Education Plan was developed and written by Dr. Janet R. Ciramella, Assistant Superintendent and the Act 48 Committee. The Chapter 4 Educational Plan was developed and written by the steering committee. The Chapter 4 Plan is the driving force for the other plans.

These goals will be the focus of the Deer Lakes School District for the next six years and will serve to advance academic achievement for all students.
