The Deer Lakes School District is seeking nominations for its Distinguished Alumni Award. The purpose of this award is to honor graduates of Deer Lakes, East Deer/Frazer, and West Deer high schools who have made a valuable contribution to society either in his/her personal or professional life.
Eligible nominees must have graduated at least a decade ago and they are required to be graduates of Deer Lakes School District or the former East Deer/Frazer or West Deer school districts.
Distinguished Alumni will be honored for outstanding contributions made in their chosen profession and include area such as business, education, journalism, law, medicine, theology, military service, science, athletics, philanthropy, humanitarianism, performing or visual arts and public service among others.
Characteristics given primary consideration are a record of academic achievement, as well as having provided a meaningful contribution to the service of others, professional and/or business achievements and accomplishments, continuing to emphasize self-improvement and community or civic consciousness.
For a person to be considered for the award, the following nomination materials must be received in the district’s foundation office on or before Jan. 12, 2018: A completed nomination form with as much information as possible including contact information and, if possible, the candidate’s resume or vita. The high school yearbook photo and recent photo of the nominee are also welcomed.
Provided evidence to support any philanthropy, community service, accomplishments, awards, and distinctions (professional or otherwise), and military and public safety involvement.

Honorees will be recognized at the Distinguished Alumni Award Ceremony and Dinner to be held on Friday, April 28, 2018. This award will be given annually by the district as a way of recognizing the many accomplishments of its graduates.
