Homecoming 2018
Deer Lakes School District invites all members of the communities of East Deer, Frazer and West Deer townships to join us in celebrating the 2018 Homecoming festivities, including the annual homecoming parade, football game and coronation, all of which will take place on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018. This year’s Homecoming theme is “Candyland.” This year’s homecoming dance will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. Tickets to the dance are $15 if purchased by Sept. 20. Tickets will not be sold at the dance.
We are particularly excited this year because the 2018-2019 school year marks the 50th anniversary of the Deer Lakes School District. To commemorate the occasion, we have designed a new temporary logo and we have planned several events for throughout the year that we will announce in the coming weeks.
As in years past, parade participants will assemble at the Deer Lakes Middle School parking lot by no later than 5 p.m. on the day of the event. The parade will begin promptly at 6 p.m. and will again follow East Union Road from the Middle School to the Deer Lakes High School. The entire length of the route is approximately 1.2 miles.
After the parade, all participants are encouraged to head into Lancer Stadium to cheer on the Deer Lakes varsity football team as they take on the Burrell Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. Tickets, which are $2 for students and $5 for adults, can be purchased in advance at each of our schools or at the gate.
As part of a new tradition, Deer Lakes has invited the away team’s marching band and cheerleaders to join in our parade and we are pleased to announce that Burrell has graciously accepted our invitation. The two proud marching bands will also participate in a postgame drumline battle.
School or community groups and organizations wishing to participate in this year’s parade should contact Ms. Melissa Eck, Deer Lakes School District via email at [email protected] by Friday, Sept. 14, 2018. For staging purposes, we will need to know approximately how many groups will be participating and if they will be walking or riding in a vehicle on the parade route.
