Forty-nine Deer Lakes students inducted into the National Honor Society
The Deer Lakes High School chapter of the National Honor Society inducted 49 new members Nov. 28, including 13 seniors and 36 juniors.

National Honor Society chapter officers Jesse Greyshock (President), Katrina Taliani (Vice President), Joshua Yourish (Secretary) and Mackenze Spence (Treasurer) co-hosted the event and spoke about the four National Honor Society pillars: Taliani on scholarship, Greyshock on leadership, Yourish on character and Spence on service.

At Deer Lakes, only juniors and seniors are eligible to become NHS members. Applicants must have a weighted GPA of at least 3.85 and completed a minimum of 30 hours of community service. They must also have recommendation from inside or outside the school environment and a positive disciplinary record.

Assistant Superintendent Bobbi-Ann Barnes addressed the students about the privilege of being in the NHS and she thanked their parents for helping to prepare their children for future success.

New senior members included: Sydney Arbuthnot, Amanda Bialas, Alexandra Bowser, Cloe Burford, Madelaine Cristillo, Brianna Czoper, Andrew Edinger, Nathaniel Glaister, Brandon Lippke, Kayla Olinger, Kendall Simurda, Sandra Schmidt and Elizabeth Zellhart.

There were 36 junior inductees including: Nertil Ballanca, Molly Begeman, Andrew Bokulich, Makayla Blair, Ryan Butler, Benjamin Calderone, Maura Cerra, Mairead Clements, Kaleigh Crim, Darrion Demase, Adam Dorman, Albert Fletcher, Alyson Frank, Mary Frank, Kelli Galbraith, Abagail George, Delaney Groves, Aris Hasley, Bryson Hazlett, Aaron Kelly, Ryleigh Long, Madison Madine, Marleen Meyer, Will Meyer, Pietro Porco, Noel Proco, Sonnet Robertson, Renee Robson, Alex Rodgers, Scott Rothrauff, Jacob Ruffalo, Alexis Sutch, Gabrielle Weber, Madelyn Wiest, Haley Zalus and Jessica Zalus.
