Deer Lakes sophomore invited to participate in Pittsburgh Steelers’ official draft day party
Deer Lakes High School student Eddie Auer has been invited to participate in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ draft day festivities, Saturday, April 25 at Heinz Field.

Auer, of West Deer, is a very active member of Mr. Doug Clark’s sports marketing class, which requires its students to plan and host various events for Lancer athletics, including a student tailgate for the boys and girls soccer teams and a midnight madness type of skills event for the boys and girls basketball teams.

Through Mr. Clark, Auer reached out to Steelers event marketing manager, Jonathan Mancuso about a job shadowing experience.  That visit went so well that the 15 year-old sophomore was invited by Caitlyn Cossu, another member of the Steelers’ event marketing staff, to participate in the team’s upcoming draft event in April.

“I knew that my initial experience went well.  I asked a ton of questions and they patiently answered each of them and seemed pretty impressed by them,” said Auer.  “However, I was pleasantly surprised over Christmas break when I learned that I had been invited to attend their draft party.  That is obviously a huge honor and it is also another opportunity to learn more about the marketing side of sports.”
