Hello! My name is Mrs. Erin Ritz. This year, 2022-23, I will be teaching 3rd grade Math and Science at East Union. My switching partner is Mrs. Julie Cousley who will be teaching Language Arts/Social Studies. Prior to this year, I taught 5th grade Math, Science, and Social Studies. I also was a self contained 3rd or 4th grade teacher for the past 6 years. I have taught at Deer Lakes since 2010 which I started out at Curtisville Primary teaching 1st grade . Prior to Deer Lakes, my experience includes 5 years in Virginia teaching Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grade. I have 3 years experience teaching preschoolers. I am constantly trying to better myself in my profession. In December of 2018, I received my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction through Gannon University.
My philosophy of education is to create a caring environment where students feel safe and excited to learn. It is my personal goal to help all children feel and be successful and know that it is okay to make mistakes, and we learn from them. Lessons are designed to touch upon all modalities of learning.
Deer Lakes is my Alma Mater, graduating in the year 1995. I come from a family of educators from superintendents to teachers. There is nothing I'd rather do. I look forward to getting to know your children.
