Hello! My name is Katie Huggins, and I am a first-grade teacher at Curtisville Primary
Center. I started teaching at Curtisville in 2021 as a first-grade long term substitute. I was hired as a full time first grade teacher in 2022! This will be my third year teaching first grade.
I graduated from Slippery Rock University in 2021 with a dual certification in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. Outside of school, I love shopping and spending time with friends, family, and my three cats!
I believe in a very student-centered classroom environment. I love watching my students become independent and take on leadership roles at school. I think it is so important to create a sense of community and family within the classroom in order to allow every student to feel welcome and comfortable so that they are able to effectively learn each day!
First grade is a very important year in your child's educational experience. You will be amazed how much they grow socially and academically throughout this school year. I look forward to working together to make first grade a year to remember!
