Receiving Your Device
 
Grades K-5: The devices will remain the school with K-3 having access to iPads and grades 4-5 having access to Chromebooks.
 
Grades 6-12: The Chromebook will stay with the student throughout the school year. Parents and Students must sign and return the Device Agreement before the Chromebook can be issued to the student. The Device Agreement is part of online forms vian the Skyward portal. 
 
Ownership of the Device 
 
The device remains at all times the property of the Deer Lakes School District and is lent to the student for educational purposes only. The equipment is for the use of the student only; family and friends should not use the equipment. The equipment will be returned when requested by Deer Lakes School District, at the end of the school year, or sooner, if the student enrollment changes, or withdraws from the District prior to the end of the school year
 
Responsibilities 
 
Student and parent/guardian are soley responsible for the device issued to them and must adhere to the following:
  • Students must comply with the District’s Acceptable Use Policy and the Student Device Handbook when using their device.
  • Students must bring their device to school every day and make sure it is fully charged. Failure to do so may result in loss of instruction.
    • Note: A fully charged device should last at least 8 hours.
  • Students must treat their device with care and never leave it in an unsecured location.
  • Students must report any problems with their device to the Technology Department as soon as possible.
  • Students may not remove or interfere with the serial number and other identification tags.
  • Students may not attempt to remove or change the physical structure of the device, including the keys, screen cover or plastic casing.
  • Students may not attempt to install or run any operating system on the device other than the ChromeOS or iOS operating system supported by the district.
