Welcome to our classroom. I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I began teaching in Deer Lakes in 2006. I taught fifth grade for four years, sixth grade for one year, second grade for one year, and the rest of the time I have been teaching first grade. Before moving back to the Pittsburgh area (I am a Pittsburgh native), I taught fifth grade for four years in Harmony Township, New Jersey.
Before becoming a teacher, I had an entirely different career as a non-profit arts administrator. I worked for the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Pittsburgh Dance Council, Lehigh University, Morris Museum in New Jersey, and a large community theater in Wisconsin.
In the past, I have tried to bring some of my arts interest and background into my classroom, and I hope to do the same this year. I also have a love for reading, and I will try to instill that in your children as well.
I currently live in the South Butler school district with my wife, Julie, and our two dogs (a weimaraner named Bonnie and a dachshund named Addie). My son, Nate, recently graduated from Slippery Rock University and is now a second-year Physical Education/Health teacher in King George, Virginia.
