My name is Shelly Znosko and I teach 3rd grade math and science at East Union Intermediate Center. For the 2020-2021 school year I will be the DL @ DL teacher for these subjects. I will not be in the building, but available through my email [email protected]
and through Skyward messaging. I am so excited to be using Google Classroom this year.
I am proud to be welcoming a student teacher to our class this fall. Her name is Miss Sarah Perez and she will be graduating from Slippery Rock University this winter. We are excited to have her join us!!
I began my career with the Deer Lakes School District in 2005 and served two years as the building substitute for the DLMS. Then in 2007, I was hired for my current teaching position and have enjoyed being a 3rd Grade teacher ever since!
In both formal and voluntary settings, my educational experiences include teaching preschool through HS students. This diversity has been a true blessing in my teaching of 3rd Grade. I am proud to say that I graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree from Gannon University in Curriculum and Instructional Education. As a life long learner, I continue to learn new and exciting ways to best teach my students!
My teaching philosophy is best summarized by a quote from Aristotle. "Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all." I hope that my students will not only gain a great education during their time with me, but build confidence and compassion under my guidance.
I am married to Kevin Znosko, who is a 5th Grade teacher at East Union Intermediate. We live 15 minutes from the school and enjoy spending time with our families and friends. During the summer, and when free time allows, I enjoy reading and quilting. Although we do not have children, we have a few pets at home. We have two Betta fish. One is a colorful teal, blue, and red betta fish picked out by my Goddaughter, Rosalee. His name is Ernie. Our other Betta fish is named Arlo. He was our class pet and is going on four years old. He will be here at home with me as I teach this year remotely. This summer, we were very excited to welcome two kittens into our family. The brothers are named Jasper and Geode. They are beautiful, gray striped, tabby cats and so much fun to have around!!
I'm so excited to start this year with all of you and promise to make this a great 3rd grade year!!
