Deer Lakes welcomes 3 new teachers

Please join us in welcoming three new teachers in our school district!

Señora Bevin Orr is our new High School Spanish teacher!

Señora Orr graduated from Baldwin High School, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Spanish at Seton Hill University and her Master’s degree in Spanish at New Mexico State University. She most recently taught Spanish in Hagerstown, Maryland.

“I teach to create and develop positive relationships with students,” Señora Orr said. “I am passionate about Spanish culture and language. I always enjoyed Spanish class in high school, and I have a love for global connections and broadening horizons. In high school, I was fortunate enough to have fantastic teachers who invested in my learning, and I’ve always wanted to pay it forward.”

Señora Orr is excited to be able to teach near Pittsburgh where she can much closer to family.

Mr. Michael Nypaver is our new High School Chemistry teacher!

“I'm excited to join Deer Lakes because it is a change in environment, a great opportunity and there will be new challenges,” Mr. Nypaver said.

Mr. Nypaver graduated from North Allegheny High School and attended Duquesne University for his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Master’s degree in Education. He has taught for 12 years, most recently at Beaver Falls High School. Mr. Nypaver is the Girls Volleyball team’s new head coach.

“I like teaching because it is probably the least boring job you can have with a chemistry degree,” Mr. Nypaver said. “Every class, day and year are different.  Plus, I get to coach. I have been lucky enough to have many great teachers through my education that have inspired me to become a teacher and a coach.”

Mr. Michael Bertoni is our new Middle School Computer Sciences teacher!

"I want to be a positive role model for students and help each child reach their full potential," Mr. Bertoni said. "I love to teach programming and robotics because it allows students to creatively problem solve and work collaboratively."

Mr. Bertoni graduated from Peters Township High School and earned his Bachelor's degree at Grove City College and his Master's degree at California University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Bertoni has taught for 13 years. most recently as the K-6 Technology Integrator at Clarion-Limestone Area School District.

"My high school chemistry teacher Mr. Jennings inspired me to become an educator and instilled the value of hard work and perseverance," Mr. Bertoni said.
