Deer Lakes School District introduces Mr. Joshua Tysk

We are pleased to announce that on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, the Deer Lakes School District will welcome Mr. Joshua Tysk as Deer Lakes High School Assistant Principal.


“My excitement to be a part of the Deer Lakes School District administrative team is exponential,” Mr. Tysk said. “My educational journey to arrive here has been a wonderful experience, and I look forward to learning, as well as growing our school community.” 


Mr. Tysk has taught mathematics for 11 years in Valley High School at New Kensington-Arnold School District. He also has experience at Butler Area High School and was a substitute teacher at Deer Lakes School District in 2010. Mr. Tysk is a graduate of Wheeling Park High School in West Virginia, attended West Liberty State College where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, and obtained his Master’s Degree and Principal Certification from the California University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Tysk coached baseball at Deer Lakes for seven years. He also was a PIAA official in volleyball and basketball.


“Josh has a unique ability to connect and communicate with all students. We are extremely excited for Josh to continue fostering the growth of every student at the high school” Deer Lakes High School Principal Ryan Aleski said.

“We are thrilled to have Mr. Tysk as part of our administrative team.  His background in mathematics, and his knowledge of the community will be a tremendous asset to the high school,” Deer Lakes School District Superintendent Dr. Janell Logue-Belden added.

The Board of School Directors approved the hiring of Mr. Tysk in October as High School Assistant Principal.
