Deer Lakes High School adds State-of-the-Art Equipment

Check out our state-of-the-art HAAS CNC Mill machine in Mr. Fullem’s high school classroom!

Senior Bryce Austin is one of our first students to use the machine, which was recently installed, to manufacture mountain pie makers with his initials engraved on the inside.

“This is pretty cool,” Bryce said. “It’s nice to have something new that we can experiment with and learn from.”

The HAAS machine will be primarily used to manufacture items using metal and plastic.

“We now have an industrial quality grade machine, and it means so much to use and developing our students’ hands-on skills,” Mr. Fullem said. “Students who use this machine along with the other equipment in our classroom will be graduating high school with the skills necessary to going into the manufacturing industry for entry-level employment.”

Lastly, the HAAS machine also will play a vital role in advancing the capabilities of the Deer Lakes IQ Bot team.

“We’re definitely going to build better bots for competitions, which is exciting for the students who participate in that club,” Mr. Fullem said.
