Deer Lakes Honors Six Distinguished Alumni
WEST DEER, Pa. - On April 24, Deer Lakes recognized six former graduates who have gained recognition for outstanding accomplishments in their fields of endeavor as part of its Fourth Annual Distinguished Alumni Awards Dinner and Ceremony. Approximately 100 guests were in attendance for the event.

O'Hare Memorial Scholarship
WEST DEER, Pa. - Earlier today, Michael O'Hare announced the creation of the Dody & Stel O'Hare Memorial Scholarship at Slippery Rock University. The $25,700 endowment will be awarded to and divided by the seven Deer Lakes High School graduates from the Class of 2015 who have chosen to attend Slippery Rock University beginning in 2015. Those students are: Zane Adiyeh, Makenzie Herbinko, Marissa Hilinski, Jonathan Kendell, Kaitlyn Maher, Samuel Sack, and Michael Senge.
Deer Lakes trio competes in State Speech and Debate Tournament
WEST DEER, Pa. - Last weekend, Deer Lakes speech and debate team members Morgan Boyd (Radio Announcing), Natalie Bick (Impromtu Speaking) and Darren Mikus (Congressional Debate) each competed in the Pennsylvania State Speech and Debate Tournament held at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa.
Deer Lakes Middle School trio advances to statewide finals of National History Day regional competition
WEST DEER, Pa. - The Deer Lakes Middle School trio of Abby Smagala, Katie Smagala, and Jessica Windows claimed third place in the Junior Division Group Exhibit at the National History Day (NHD) competition held at the Heinz History Center in mid-March.
"In partnership with the community, the Deer Lakes School District will provide a dynamic, comprehensive educational program and support services necessary to meet the diverse needs of all students in a safe, caring environment, thus enabling them to reach their potential as responsible, productive citizens."
The Deer Lakes School District has been designated as a Tobacco Free Zone. The use of all tobacco products is now prohibited on all Deer Lakes School District grounds and facilities.
