Deer Lakes School District Placed on College Board's 5th Annual AP District Honor Roll for Significant Gains in Student Access and Success

CHESWICK, Pa. - Deer Lakes is one of 547 school districts in the U.S. and Canada, and one of just 39 Pennsylvania school districts, being honored by the College Board with placement on the 5th Annual AP® District Honor Roll for increasing access to Advanced Preparatory course work while simultaneously maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher on AP Exams. 2014 is a milestone year for the AP District Honor Roll, and more districts are achieving this objective than ever before. Logue-Belden Hired as Superintendent

CHESWICK, Pa. - The Deer Lakes Board of School Directors named Avella Area School District Superintendent Dr. Janell Logue-Belden as its eighth permanent superintendent at its November voting meeting. Dr. Logue-Belden replaces Dr. Janet Ciramella, who is set to retire in April, after 25 years in the district, including the past two as superintendent.

DLSD Teachers Reach Settlement

CHESWICK, Pa. - The Deer Lakes Board of School Directors unanimously approved a new four-year contract with the Deer Lakes Educators Association (DLEA), the professional organization for the school district's 135 certified teachers, nurses and guidance counselors, at its monthly voting meeting. The new four year deal is retroactive to July 1, 2013 and will run through June 30, 2017.
