15-16 France Trip
We left on the evening of July 5th and got to Paris the morning of July 6th. We returned home yesterday evening at 7:00pm. There were 14 in our group from Deer Lakes- 10 students from Deer Lakes Schools Grades 10-12, 2 chaperones (myself and Mrs. Earls- the French teachers), and a parent and another friend of Ms. Earls. There were 14 in our group and we traveled with another group from Chicago. This trip was open to any student at Deer Lakes High School and Middle School. The trip did continued as planned with no alternations of our tour or route. I had registered our entire group with the STEP Program though the US Embassy and Bureau of Consular Affairs before we left so that we could be tracked on all legs of our tour. We were 2 days in Nice (see my itinerary). Were 540 miles from Nice when the attacks happened and all of my parents were notified immediately that we were safe.

PennDOT to replace bridge on Russellton-Dorseyville Road
PennDOT will replace the existing bridge which carries Russellton-Dorseyville Rd. over Cunningham Road in West Deer. The project is just east of the intersection of Saxonburg Blvd.
The project consists of the replacement of the existing bridge structure, approach roadway work and other miscellaneous work. The construction schedule is currently being finalized, but is expected to take place between early spring and late fall, 2017.
The nearly five-mile detour could remain on place for up to 90 days and will re-route commuters through Saxonburg Blvd. to East Union Rd. to Russellton-Dorseyville Rd.
We are pleased to announce a slight change in our bus pass procedure that will affect all district families during the next school year.
On August 11, 2016 your students’ bus passes will be mailed to you, a full two (2) weeks before the start of the 2016-2017 school year. In previous years, the school district issued the passes just a few days before the start of school. The new timeline is the result of feedback from the community and is designed to help give district families more time to adjust their routines and prepare for the start of the new school year.
To help us facilitate this new process, all address changes or alternate bus stops must be submitted by no later than July 22, 2016. The deadline is a little earlier than in years past to allow the transportation department time to make any necessary changes before the start of the new school year.
It is important to note that no changes will be made for alternate bus stops after the passes have been issued, so please be sure to submit the Bus Stop Change Request form by the July 22 deadline. The form can be found on the transportation page of this website.
Also, please note that if you have submitted a Bus Stop Change Request form in the past, you must re-submit that form before the start of each school year.
Thank you for helping us streamline and modernize our transportation procedures.
