The Deer Lakes School District Board of Directors unanimously appointed Dr. Beth Hutson as the District's next Superintendent of Schools during its regular voting meeting on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Dr. Hutson will officially assume the role on August 18, 2026.

Dr. Hutson brings more than two decades of experience in public education and a distinguished record of leadership across K–12 and higher education. Since joining the Deer Lakes School District as Assistant Superintendent in March 2026, she has demonstrated a deep commitment to the District's students, staff, and community through a highly visible, collaborative leadership approach.

Following a comprehensive search process, the Board of School Directors unanimously selected Dr. Hutson to serve as the District's next Superintendent. Board members cited her extensive leadership experience, student-centered philosophy, collaborative approach, and demonstrated commitment to the Deer Lakes community as key factors in their decision.

Throughout her career, Dr. Hutson has served as an assistant superintendent, university professor, curriculum leader, regional education consultant, and special education administrator. She also serves as an adjunct professor at Point Park University, where she helps prepare aspiring superintendents and school leaders. Her work has consistently focused on strengthening organizational culture, advancing instructional excellence, fostering innovation, and creating learning environments where every student can thrive.

Since arriving at Deer Lakes, Dr. Hutson has made it a priority to build meaningful relationships across the school community. She is a familiar presence in classrooms, school events, extracurricular activities, and district functions, believing that visible leadership, authentic relationships, and a shared commitment to continuous improvement are essential to creating exceptional learning experiences for students and a positive culture for staff.
