Understanding Deer Lakes' new Standards-Based Grading for students in grades K-5

Deer Lakes School District has implemented Standards-Based Grading for students in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. This system allows district students in those grades and their families to know exactly what is expected in each content area and provides them with a more detailed outline of learning expectations and student progress. Homecoming Weekend: Oct. 11-12, 2019

Deer Lakes School District will celebrate its 2019 Homecoming festivities, including the annual Homecoming parade, football game vs. Keystone Oaks (7:30 p.m. kickoff) and pre-game coronation, on Friday, Oct. 11, 2019. All Deer Lakes students and parents are encouraged to attend their school's Back-To-School Open House in order to prepare for the 2019-20 school year. Deer Lakes will hold Open Houses from 6-8 p.m. on the following dates:  High School: Thursday, Sept. 5; Middle School: Thursday, Sept. 12; East Union - Session 1: Wednesday, Sept. 18; East Union - Session 2: Thursday, Sept. 19; and Curtisville: Thursday, Sept. 26.  More +

Deer Lakes’ Cavalancia Named 2019 Pennsylvania School Breakfast Hero

The national anti-hunger campaign No Kid Hungry announced this week their 2019 Pennsylvania School Breakfast Heroes. This year’s inductees include educators, administrators, and food service staff from school districts across the commonwealth who were nominated by members of their local community for going above and beyond to make school breakfast possible for all students.  Among this year’s School Breakfast Heroes is Curtisville Primary Center principal, Mrs. Jennifer Cavalancia. Open House: Curtisville Primary Center

All Deer Lakes students and parents are encouraged to attend their school's Back-To-School Open House in order to prepare for the 2019-20 school year. Deer Lakes will hold Open Houses according to the following schedule:
Deer Lakes High School: Thursday, Sept. 5 (6-8 p.m.)
Deer Lakes Middle School: Thursday, Sept. 12 (6-8 p.m.)
East Union Intermediate Center: Wednesday, Sept. 18 (6-8 p.m.) Grade 3 and Grade 4 (rooms 404 and 405)
East Union IC: Thursday, Sept. 19  (6-8 p.m.) Grade 5 and Grade 4 (rooms 406, 407, 408, 409, 504 and 505) 
Curtisville Primary Center: Thursday, Sept. 26 (6-8 p.m.)
