Welcome to the Department of Transportation Services at Deer Lakes School District.
Deer Lakes School District provides transportation for nearly 2000 students. Each week day during the school year, our buses traverse the 41 square miles that compose the district. Transportation for Deer Lakes students is provided by district owned vehicles and district employees. Transportation for non-public or private school students and special education students is provided by W. L. Roenigk.
We are pleased to provide you with our transportation center, in which you can view frequently asked questions & access on-line forms. Our goal is to provide safe, effective and efficient transportation to and from school for our students, and provide exceptional customer service to them and their parents.
We ensure this occurs by following District policies as well as the Pennsylvania Department of Education's guidelines for pupil transportation. Bus stops are community gathering areas located in the safest areas possible. It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to get their student(s) to and from the bus stop, both in the morning and afternoon.
On our website you can find information regarding our fleet and other transportation services. If you are a current student, or their parent or guardian, many of your questions may be answered by clicking on the adjacent links.
Additionally, our buses have been inspected by the PA State Police and received a perfect rating. Thank you to the
wonderful mechanics! The transportation department has reviewed and arranged the bus stops for this
year and you will be happy to know that all of our buses will be geared with new cameras. The District
will be partnering with Bus Patrol to not only retrofit the fleet with internal cameras, but also to provide
stop arm cameras to help stop individuals from running the red lights of a school bus when they are
preparing to stop. Deer Lakes is one of the first districts in Western Pennsylvania to add the Bus Patrol
stop arm cameras to their fleet. Installation of these cameras will be finished by mid September.
