My name is Patty McDermott and I am a learning support math teacher at the high school.  I have taught at Deer Lakes since 2009.  

 

I did not become a teacher until I was 43.  I have three daughters who are all married and I have five grandchildren.   I have been married to my 8th grade boyfriend for 34 years.  We live in Shaler and spend a lot of time visiting our daughters' families in Boston and Cincinnati.   We also like to take our dogs on camping trips.  We watch Notre Dame football religiously and I love college basketball.  I have a 5 acre farm-ette in West Deer where I have 28 fruit trees, many types of berry bushes, and my husband keeps bees.

I began my education at Indiana University (Bloomington, Indiana) in 1983 and completed it at La Roche College in 2008.  I was formerly a cake decorator and a paraprofessional at Shaler Area School District.
