Strings:
Students are expected to practice their instruments at home in addition to class rehearsal time (especially due to the nature of the hybrid schedule).
There will be a few playing tests and written assignments/quizzes throughout the year. Students will be given plenty of advance notice prior to testing.
Attendance at after-school rehearsals and concerts is mandatory.

General Music:
Class participation is a major part of the students' grades. A few written or performance-based assessments will be given throughout the year with plenty of advance notice.

Listening Activities
Beginner Strings-
Students will be playing exercises and songs in our book (Sound Innovations for Strings) Pages 5-7. They will learn the 4 open strings, notes on the D and A strings, and basic rhythms. Practice goal is 100 minutes per week. We will begin bowing in January!
Advanced Strings-
Students will be playing exercises and songs in our book (Sound Innovations for Strings) Pages 33-36 and supplementary sheet music. They will learn notes on all four strings, new rhythms, and reinforce proper bow technique. Practice goal is 100 minutes per week.
