Chris Snyder is currently the Director of Bands for the Deer Lakes School District. He began teaching in September of 2006 as the director of the Deer Lakes High School Marching Band. In addition to directing the Marching Band, his teaching responsibilities include conducting the high school Symphonic Band and the Jazz Ensemble, as well as the 6th and 7th-8th grade ensembles at the Deer Lakes Middle School. In addition to his ensemble duties he also teaches Music Theory / Composition, Fundamentals of Guitar and History of Rock and Roll.
Chris is a graduate of Duquesne University's Mary Pappert School of Music earning his Bachelors of Science in Music Education with an emphasis in Jazz Trumpet. While at Duquesne, he had the opportunity to study with some of Pittsburgh's finest jazz musicians including Dr. John Wilson and Mike Tomaro, as well as world-renowned jazz trumpet artist Sean Jones.
Chris is an active member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) as well as holds the position of Vice President on the Executive Committee for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Marching Band Association (PIMBA).
