Deer Lakes’ summer construction projects

Deer Lakes facilities will be under construction for much of the summer with roof work being done at Curtisville Primary Center and East Union Intermediate Center.  Crews are also replacing the gutters and floor drains in the high school swimming pool.   More +

Deer Lakes shines at D2M2 showcase

Deer Lakes students recently participated in the Design to Make a Difference showcase (D2M2) at Alloy 26 in Nova Place on the North Shore. That is the site of the former Allegheny Center Mall.  Caden Taylor, a second grader at Curtisville Primary Center, made a huge impression on all of the local inventors and judges his brilliant idea, “Big Kid Hanger,” which earned him the "Spark of Genius" award. Deer Lakes names Emmonds new business manager

Deer Lakes School District has hired Jennifer R. Emmonds, CPA, PRSBO as business manager and board secretary to replace Lori Byron, who in April left Deer Lakes to take a similar position at Highlands School District. More +

Distinguished Alumni Awards Ticket Deadline Fast Approaching

The Deer Lakes School District Distinguished Alumni Hall of Honor will recognize five graduates who have gained recognition for outstanding accomplishments in their fields of endeavor.The 2018 inductees are: Dr. Bruce R. Kelly (East Deer-Frazer High School, ’69), Dennis G. Martinez (Deer Lakes High School, ’70), Leo R. Mierzejek (West Deer High School, ’47), Dr. Robert F. Pacek (East Deer-Frazer, ’53) and Vincent Taliani (West Deer High School, ’47).The induction ceremony and banquet will be held starting at 5 p.m. on May 12, 2018 at Deer Lakes High School.  For tickets, email: or call: 724-265-5300 Ext. 6288.

Out of this world

The Deer Lakes High School Drama department presented , April 13-15, and the reviews have been extremely positive.  The Little Mermaid is based on the animated 1989 Disney film of the same name and the classic story of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen about a mermaid who dreams of the world above the sea and gives up her voice to find love. Some of the most famous songs from the show, which audiences always love included, “Kiss the Girl,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” “Part of Your World” and of course “Under the Sea.” More +
