In this course, students will become acquainted with the functional use and importance of Algebra in higher mathematics and science. This course also emphasizes the importance of Algebra in everyday life and allows students to appreciate the deductive nature of mathematics. Topics to be discussed will include symbols and sets, variable and open sentences, axioms, equations, linear equations dealing with slope and intercepts, negative numbers and inequalities, polynomials, special products and factoring, algebraic fractions, graphs, equations with two variables and the real number system. Concepts from both Module 1 and 2 of the Keystone Exam will be covered.  Students will take the Keystone exam at the end of the year.
