My name is Cara Jerome and I am a Fourth Grade Math, Social Studies, and Science Teacher at East Union School. I have taught at Deer Lakes since 2004. I have had the opportunity to teach kindergarten for twelve years, first grade for two years, and second grade for three years. Previous to teaching at Deer Lakes, I taught kindergarten at our local Transfiguration Catholic School and worked at Pittsburgh Public School’s Head Start Program.
I became a teacher because I wanted to help children learn that they all have the potential to succeed. I have a desire to serve my community by contributing my time and talents to students who will be our next generation.
I am a proud 1993 graduate of Deer Lakes High school. I attended Clarion University earning a dual degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. My husband is also a Deer Lakes graduate, and we have twins who are in second grade. I love animals, spending time with family, and traveling to different places.
