Hello! My name is Ashley Strachan, and I am a Speech and Language Therapist at Curtisville Primary! Additionally, I provide instruction as part of Curtisville's Tier 3 Reading Program. I began working at Deer Lakes in December 2023. Prior to working with Deer Lakes, I worked as a speech-language pathologist with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit (AIU-3). I have worked with students of various ages and backgrounds at schools including Pine-Richland High School, Wexford Elementary, and Sunrise School.
I chose to be a speech therapist because of my love for language, and I love helping students find power in their ability to communicate. I believe each student deserves a chance to find their voice and learn how to use it well. Additionally, I know each student's communication journey is different, so individualized instruction is incorporated in my speech therapy sessions.
Outside of school, I enjoy hiking and exploring local trails and parks. When I'm stuck inside, I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen and baking my favorite treats.
